Formerly known as 3rd Street Beat, Edmonton’s first all Hip Hop and Street Dance Studio since 2001.
Inside the Groovebox
You will find competitive street dance and foundational training classes for all ages and levels of experience. Our studio offers classes in original street dance styles like Breaking, Hip Hop, Popping, Locking, Waacking, House, Animation, Commercial and more! Taking an in-depth look into the foundational grooves and techniques that apply to each style.
Our studio believes in being a family focused environment and putting Foundational training first!
What we offer
Drop-In Training - Ages 6+ We offer weekly classes from Popping, Locking and Hip Hop to Animation, Breaking and Femme Styles - Drop-in, have fun and pick up some new techniques and skills.
8 Week Sessions - Ages 4+ Our 8 Week Grooves Sessions put you in a room with a team that progresses each week towards one final performance showcase for family and friends at the studio.
Pre Competitive - Ages 6+ For the dancer who is new to dance and the competitive circuit but is ready to perform and compete with a team! Pre-Competitive Programs embrace a fun and casual approach to dance! Dancers will participate in 3 competitions and perform at our Year-End Showcase.
Competitive - Ages 8+ You’re ready for a bigger commitment! Our Mini, Junior, Varsity and Adult teams fall into this category. On top of team classes competitive dancers will add weekly training classes to further their street dance knowledge and techniques. Dancers will participate in 5 competitions and perform at our Year-End Showcase. Competitions include local and national Hip Hop and Street Dance competitions.

Groovebox Training Programs
where students are rewarded for taking training classes by earning STRIPES at key milestones for time and actions put in. These Stripes are custom sewn onto our Groovebox backpacks that students bring with them to class. Each stripe shows a level of commitment to their styles training and provides other benefits within the studio and community at events and workshops. The real win is putting in the consistent work in training!

Most Authentic Retro Hip Hop Space in Edmonton!
We love our facility and are currently outfitting it to incorporate all authentic elements of the Hip Hop culture so it feels authentic and fresh when you walk in. There will be lots of old school throwbacks and you will be able to learn about Hip Hop culture and the many street dance styles simply by walking through our space.
Annual Culture Exchange
Every year, the Groovebox competitive teams will take a trip to another Hip Hop studio to train with their teachers and connect with their students and community, to help build and grow their skills and enjoy new fun experiences. This will also tie into performance opportunities and competitions with the new studio!
Exclusive Street Styles Specialist Training
from an OG in the Style! As a Street Styles studio, we are providing each competitive division with exclusive and high quality training from a pioneer, creator or expert in their Street Style within the Hip Hop culture. We bring them in and set up private workshops to provide unique and authentic education and information for our students.
